The public enterprise VILNIAUS FESTIVALIAI (VILNIUS FESTIVALS) was founded in April 2003 by Vilnius City Municipality. The founding was approved by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
By founding this company, the City of Vilnius is obliged to oversee cultural and artistic events of primary importance, those which spread the reputation of the city and increase its cultural prestige both within the country and worldwide. It was also taken an experience from major foreign cities which have successfully developed their activities to coordinate the organization of culture and art festivals (like Berlin, Amsterdam, Salzburg, Helsinki, Ljubljana, Edinburgh and many others).

VILNIUS FESTIVALS is a specific alliance of the most important festivals held in Vilnius, uniting the primary – largest and highest quality – artistic events of different genres, styles and trends.

The main goal of VILNIUS FESTIVALS is to unite the most valuable and potent art and management forces and to offer the extensive audiences of Vilnius an especially diverse, grand and high quality art product.

Spurred by this goal, the company of VILNIUS FESTIVALS presently includes those festivals that are nationally and internationally acknowledged and are already spreading the reputation of city of Vilnius, as well as new potential events, the need for which is recognizable not only in the capital, but in all of Lithuania.

Currently VILNIUS FESTIVALS unite and organize the following international festivals:

  • Vilnius Festival, classical music festival organized together with the National Philharmonic Society

  • Sirenos, theatre festival organized together with the Oskaras Korsunovas Theatre

  • Gaida, contemporary music festival organized together with the Lithuanian Composers' Union

  • New Baltic Dance, contemporary dance festival organized together with the Dance Information Centre

  • Christopher Summer Festival, classical music festival organized together with the company Kristupo Festivalis

  • Vilnius Mama Jazz, jazz music festival organized together with the Vilnius Jazz Club

and newly joined international festivals:

  • Banchetto Musicale, early music festival organized together with the company Banchetto Musicale

  • Cinema Spring, film festival organized together with the company Kino Pavasaris

  • Vilnius Jazz, contemporary jazz music festival organized together with the Vilnius Jazz Festival.

Also, since 2004 the VILNIUS FESTIVALS company runs Capital Days, a biggest city fiesta of Vilnius.
