CHRISTOPHER’S PICNIC WITH CHOPIN

July 1, Saturday

Bernardine Gardens, 19:00

ZUZANNA PIETRZAK (piano, Poland)

The last Christopher’s Picnic is dedicated to piano music. The Bernardine Gardens will be filled with the works of Karol Szymanowski and the great Romantic – Frederic Chopin. They will be performed by a guest performer from Poland – Zuzanna Pietrzak.

This pianist’s talent has developed as naturally as the sun rises each morning – from her first notes played at the age of seven to the prestigious international competition awards she receives today. The performer admits that she truly is an enthusiast when it comes to Chopin’s music. She has prepared and performed a number of programmes dedicated to this composer, played concerts at venues associated with his biography or name, appeared in concert halls and festivals in Morocco, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, etc.

Pietrzak is convinced that Chopin’s music will remain relevant for a long time to come: “the composer pushed reality out of his work, opening the door to emotions instead. We experience them, and then we come to recognise them. This is part of being a human. That’s why, when listening to one of Chopin’s melodies, even if it’s a few hundred years later, we feel as if we have come home…”

We have no doubt that you too shall experience this amazing effect!

Programme features music by Frederic Chopin and Karol Szymanowski.
