Crazy Saxophones

Tuesday, July 17, 7 pm | VU Botanical Gardens Vingis Branch (110 M. K. Čiurlionio St, Vilnius)

Cheeky arrangements from Bach to Bernstein

BLATTWERK SAXOPHONE QUARTET (Germany):
HARTMUT SALZMANN (soprano and alto saxophone)
TIMUR ISAKOV (alto saxophone, clarinet)
ALBAN HAUSER (tenor saxophone)
BERND STICH (baritone saxophone)

If you’re one of those people that immediately associates the word “quartet” with boredom, forget this stereotype as fast as you can. The appearances of the Blattwerk saxophonists are accompanied by smiles and good emotions!

Four professionals could have chosen any path as performers, yet they decided to play together, spicing up classical music with unexpected improvisational twists. And they do this so imaginatively, so tastefully, that it wasn’t long before they broke out onto the international festival scene and concert halls, and most importantly – into the audience’s hearts.

Cheeky arrangements of well-known works, a dash of irony and four saxophone masters on one stage – certainly a promise of an excellent summer evening!

Program: J. S. Bach, W. A. Mozart, L. Bernstein, A. Piazzolla, etc.
