This year’s theme is the composer Stanisław Moniuszko, the soul of 19th-century musical life in Vilnius.

  • About the excursion: 19th-century Vilnius. Invited guests assemble at the Müller and Römeris houses for Moniuszko’s chamber music evenings, others await to hear his organ-playing at the Church of St Johns. Others still attend piano lessons with the maestro-pedagogue… We’ll find out where the composer met the love of his life, what he had in common with Adam Mickiewicz, and we’ll follow in the composer’s footsteps through the capital’s old town, delving ever deeper into the intriguing realities of a past time.
  • About the concert: salon music evenings flourished in the homes of almost all the European intelligentsia in the 19th century. Moniuszko nurtured this tradition as well. And tonight, a duet of sisters will remind us how they might have sounded! Duet D&D are the Dūdaitė sisters – Marija (soprano) and Ieva (piano). The regular concert performers are always anticipated guests at major concert halls and music festivals. Their draw-card is an immeasurable dose of warmth and sincerity, while their motto is “Our music speaks louder than words!”
