Okata is a unique group, combining the beauty of Lithuanian folk songs, electronic music and beatbox rhythms. The four performers do this so well that they have immediately won the hearts of audiences and professionals alike.
The group’s name comes from an old Samogitian word, okata, meaning a wish, or desire. It is a perfect reflection of the musicians’ philosophy: “We chose this name because we came together driven by the immense desire to show people something new. We are glad to have found one another, because we aim to popularise and preserve folk music – our cultural heritage”.
The Okata group harnesses vocals, pedal effects and beatbox rhythms to liberate the powerful energy of old songs. Come and feel it yourselves!
Program features Lithuanian folk songs (arr. Okata)
