Prize-winner concert SIGISMUNDUS LAUXMIN International Harpsichord Contest, first edition

The first international contest to be held in the Baltic States is dedicated to the notable Lithuanian scholar, music theorist, author of the first music textbook manual in Lithuania, philosopher, and professor at Vilnius University Sigismundus Lauxmin (1596/97–1670). The contest also marks the 350th anniversary this year of Sigismundus Lauxmin’s death, on 11 September 1670. The aim of this contest to acquaint the competition’s participants, as well as listeners with the small but highly significant musical heritage of our country. Due to the travel restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 crisis, the contest will be held entirely online. This concert, consisting from video recordings, will be available for the audience on-screen in the Renaissance Hall of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, Vilnius (pre-registration required), and it will also be available via online streaming, on Banchetto Musicale festival Facebook page and YouTube channel.
