Music On Water

Thursday, June 28, 7 pm | On the banks of the Neris River between the Green Bridge and Mindaugas' Bridge (near the Riverbank Arch sculpture)

Opening of the Christopher Summer Festival

LITHUANIAN MILITARY ORCHESTRA
Conductor and artistic director EGIDIJUS ALIŠAUSKAS

Having already taken performers up in a hot-air balloon, and lowered them down into the Devil’s Hole, this year the Christopher Summer Festival will invite you to come see how music sounds on water! The Neris River will briefly become a concert hall, the Ryga riverboat will become a stage, and the riverbanks will become your VIP box-seats.

And who else would be bold enough to take on such a challenge if not a powerful woodwind orchestra, having decided to mark the centenary of the restoration of the country’s independence in an original way together with all of Lithuania and the Lithuanian military. The performance will begin with the theatrical Water Music suite by Haendel, and the finale will feature the best-loved modern hits. If you’ve always thought that the Lithuanian Military Orchestra only plays marches, think again!

You’ll see how Vilnius is filled with music, so make plans for which concert directions to take, after all, the festival always has a lot to offer!

Program features G. F. Haendel, D. Shostakovich, popular music
